2021 School Bags Project - Report

Dear friends,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring such joy to 100 children from the villages around Sibiu! Children were so happy to be able to go to school physically and especially proud with their new school bags on their backs!

In the week before the school started, together with our volunteers, we went shopping and took all the necessary items to put the school bags together. We had to make several trips to all the supermarkets in the city, to be able to find the actual school bags, and the volunteers were so helpful with giving us their input in what to buy as 3 are still in high school.

We bought notebooks, writing supplies, pencil cases, abacuses, artistic items they are required to have (watercolours, colored crayons, markers, play dough) other items, and a bag of sweets.

After putting all together, we labeled each school bag with the appropriated class and gender.

We filled up the car and headed to the villages. This was the best part of our work, to see the joy of the children while receiving the bags!

We invited them to look inside and we heard them exclaiming: WOW!

One child said to another: What are these?? They saw a set of watercolors, and they said that those are to color their shoes with. The same thing with the dinosaur pen and the abacus. We realized then, that even if they were first graders, they have never seen or used things like these before.

There were many kindergarten children who were around us, and if the Lord still gives us health to do another project in the future, we think about including them with some items and a little bag, and some sweets.

Thank you for the financial support you offered, and thank you for your love for these children in need!

May God bless you!
