Examples of the Foundation’s efforts are the building and maintenance of a community park and play area in Miercurea, Romania and the provision of food, fuel and holiday gifts to families in remote villages of Transylvania.

The Barsan Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit establishment by the state of Wisconsin in 2016 (EIN#81-4691585) and in March 2017 it was certified by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a private foundation (Section 509a) exempt from federal income tax.

Foundation officers set priorities for distribution of funds and services annually.  Identification of fund recipients and mechanisms for delivery of funds and services are facilitated through faith-based organizations in Romania and the U.S.  The officers also set the amount of funds available for services based upon annual monies raised.

In 2021 The Barsan Foundation added new projects in collaboration with Petreus Fundacia, supporting summer camp opportunities for children of poor families and delivering "loaded" school bags to kindergarten and elementary school students in very remote villages.
