2022 U – Ro Border Humanitarian Relief Project

Donations made to the Barsan Foundation are being allocated and sent to the Humanitarian Relief Project.

Similar to our Winter Holiday Giving Project, all donations of gift boxes will be allocated to humanitarian efforts of the thousands of Ukraine refugees seeking shelter in Romania, at border crossings and designated shelters per local relief authorities.

Funds will purchase basic supplies of water, non-perishable food, blankets, telephone sim cards, children’s toys, and infant supplies.  Funds will be wired to Romania on a weekly basis.

Refer to www. barsanfoundation.org/projects to view videos and written reports of past successful projects, as well as the 2021 Annual Report.

PROJECT UPDATE

March 21st, 2022

The following is a redacted, rephrased message from our workers in Romania.

This week we returned from delivering 10 tons of potatoes and other food to Ukraine.

The humanitarian aid is lacking food staples! Everyone is looking for food. There are cities under siege where people can't get food or fresh water and resort to boiling salt water from the sea.

Access to cities by car is limited with people waiting days to enter.

Most importantly we need staple food. A truck with 20 tons of food costs about $24,000 to $27,000.

Any help is appreciated, but people are starving and food would be most useful.
